EDL Hosting Service - Difference between any, allow, default, optimize

L0 Member

Hi,

Can someone explain the differences between the any, allow, default, and optimize lists?
The explanation in the Palo Alto documentation is quite vague on this matter.

We're looking into using this to filter o365 access, but unsure which list to use in the EDL.

thanks in advance!

Hi @BrunoPyck ,

EDL Hosting Service is just mining Microsoft official public list of IPs and URLs from here - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/urls-and-ip-address-ranges?view=o365-worl...

As you can see those categories are provided by Microsoft and EDL hosting services has nothing to do with them.

So if you need to understand what is the difference you need to look at Microsoft documentation. Here you can find definition of the three categories - Microsoft 365 network connectivity principles - Microsoft 365 Enterprise | Microsoft Learn
