expanding, an expanded panorama storage

Not applicable

Hi,

I will do follow the procedure   "Expending Panorama Storage Using a Virtual Disk", admin 4.1 doc, page 270, to have a 500GB disk for log.  But a question popup!! (again)

Here my question :  can we expend, a second time, a expanded panorama storage?  And if we do this, we will still have the logs?  And how?

just to be more clear :

- let say today i need 500GB to keep 1 year of log.

- but, later like in 3 month, my boss decide to keep 3 year of log.  So i have to expend this Virtual drive to 1.5TB.

How i do this?

- I redo the same procedure or

- I just expend the disk using VM tools?  the logs will still be there or deleted?

thanks

Hi Denis,

I checked with my team regarding this and here are the facts about adding storage to panorama.

Only virtual disk is supported by the panorama.

Once you install the virtual disk , you cannot increase the size of it. (by this I mean panorama does not detect it even if you increase the size of the virtual disk)

If you want to add more size, remove the original virtual disk and and add a new virtual disk with larger size.

Thanks,

Sandeep T

I have tried some testing on my panorama.

First I have added 100 gb as a new virtual disk and rebooted the machine it worked well and the panorama recognized the changes.

Later I have increased the size of this disk from 100gb to 200gb, panorama did not recognize this.

Then I have added a new virtual disk now with another 200gb, panorama did not recognize this.

It seems like panorama took the change of the hard disk only once.

Thanks,

Sandeep T
