Found a PA 200 in the trash

L0 Member

Hi, i found a PA 200 in the trash, it works fine, is it viable to use it as a firewall. I don't have access to any support at all. Not even a os update of some kind. And is there any way i can get said update. Have a great day.

Thank you for the post @RobFut

for both PAN-OS upgrade as well as application updates you need a valid support contract. Palo Alto has Secondary Market Policy for this use case: https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/services/support/support-policies/secondary-market-policy however your PA-200 does not qualify for this. At least 2 points are not met:

- PA-200 was end of sale 31st October 2018.

- Device was not purchased from official secondary market that can issue receipt.

From my point of view it is not worth to use it for any production environment. I would not consider it for anything else than lab.

Kind Regards

Pavel
