Changes to the LIVEcommunity experience are coming soon... Here's what you need to know.
Hey folks,
Using PAN-OS 7.1.15 and Globalprotect client 4.0.1.
Trying to confirm something. From what I can tell, when connected to VPN via GlobalProtect, my general internet access goes through the VPN tunnel route successfully (after security rule between the zones of course).
That is the case, correct?
Split tunnel is just not available or possible until this 8.0 feature?

there isn't one...
it's the network settings tab (in your picture)
access routes
I think you have read that wrong. Split tunnel has been available since day 1
Thanks MickBall
So much to learn. :)
This 8.0 documentation is confusing to me. Makes it sound like exactly what I am asking about and says new feature.
Looking through my current GlobalProtect configuration and do not see indications of where or how it is split up.
Not sure exactly how to tell when connected and not connected if traffic is going through VPN or not.
If you have any more specifics, let me know.
Thanks again.
Your split tunnel settings are located at:
Network->Gateways->yourgateway->agent->client settings->choose the config->Split tunnel tab
Though split tunnel has been there since the beginning, prior to 8.0 you couldn't exclude a network. You had to do it all with inclusion, which was tedious if you wanted to allow a /8 but only exclude a few subnets within it.
With 8.1 and GP 4.1 out now as well, that can go even further by specifying apps that you want to split:
The "New Features" guides show only changes from the previous major release, but I can see the confusion because it doesn't make it obvious which part of the screenshot is the new feature and which is the existing. Once you get familiar with all the features, the incremental changes are easier to handle :)

Thank you for that @MickBall
We have internal networks added to our Access Routes. Reading the documentation, it sounds like the fact we have (internal) entries added here, only traffic to these internal routes will go through the VPN tunnel and everything else (like general internet traffic) will not go through the tunnel. Sound correct?
For reference.
yes, correct. this is known as split tunneling.
the routes in your config are classed as included, on the newer version you can also add exclusions as @gwesson previously stated.
