Hi There,
we are using 10.1.5-h2 and Globalprotect 6.0.1 VPN. Our Users logging in via SAML and it works very good. The only thing which is annoying is that during the connection two similar Browser Tabs are Opening. After that, the Connection is established. Is there a way to reduce the tabs to one? We are using a Active Directory local Group and in Azure the global Protect Application where the users are inside. IT looks like the Globalprotect Client is using in the first tab the gateway, in the second tab the saml authentication?
Regards

I am running PAN-OS 10.2.2-h2 and GPA 6.1.0. I just upgraded the GP agent today. I have Saml authentication to the Global Protect App in Azure. Authentication is working great and leveraging the MFA we have set up system-wide. The two tabs opening makes for a strange user experience that I would really like to eliminate.

This issue began happening to me some time in the past year, but seemed to not be an issue on my system more than a year ago. GlobalProtect opens two redundant SAML authentication tabs on each connect (Firefox / macOS). When connecting to our GlobalProtect VPN, the app opens two browser authentication tabs in sequence rather than one. The first tab appears, then a second redundant tab opens immediately after for the same auth flow, which also grabs the focus from my current tasks. Authentication completes in one and then a second tab appears showing the exact same "authentication complete" message; then both tabs are left over and must be closed manually, in addition to the "Authentication complete" message provided by the Global Protect app notification (the fact that these tabs don't auto-close is arguably the bigger issue). This happens on every connection attempt and has persisted for several months across app/browser updates.
Environment:
Expected: a single authentication tab per connection.
Actual: two tabs open back-to-back for the same authentication.
Happy to provide GlobalProtect logs (Settings → Troubleshooting → Collect Logs) if helpful.
