Identifying Preferred/Recommended PAN-OS Versions

L6 Presenter

I recently upgraded 2 locations of 3420s and 3410s to 10.2.10h4 from 10.2.7h8 and it looks like Palo Alto has included a feature that will identify the "preferred" software versions.

This is a pretty neat feature native in the GUI which will help admins quickly identify the current preferred releases.

As always admins should do their due diligence in reviewing the release notes for any potential conflicts.

I dislike it... While the addition of another column the indicates the preferred releases is good, they simultaneously removed the viewing of all other release by default, including releases currently installed on the PA. You have to make multiple clicks just to view the available/installed software, and as soon as you navigate away and back you have to make multiple clicks all over again. It doesn't save your viewing selections like other pages.

Yeah...It actually freaked me out.  I had to make multiple clicks to find "all" available OS versions.  I initially thought there was a problem.

I also dislike that this was done in the middle of the code release.  That said I think that over-all this feature is more of a benefit than a negative.  Admins just need to get used to it.
