Hello all.
I’d like to know about AV of PA relate to inspection ability and speed degradation.
I had a test with Anti-Virus/Spyware signature.
When I send a zip compression file throughout PAN(4.0.3), PA’s speed was degradation but if I send a RAR throughput PAN, it is not show speed degradation form PA.
There are difference compression method between of ZIP (block-based compression) and RAR(stream-based compression).
I think it is possible to inspection ZIP but, stream-based compression file like RAR is not inspection from PA.
Please let me know what kinds of compression file are able to inspection from PA, if my think is correct.
Thanks,
Eugene.

ZIP and GZIP are the support compression types, any other types will be passed on.

Hi Eugene,
Also, if your customer needs extensive decompression for AV scanning by PA, please consider to use PA4000 or above series, which has dedicated hardware component for decompression in order to enhance the performance. PA2000 and PA500 does not have that hardware component.
