LSVPN: Difference Between Portal and Gateway

L1 Bithead

When the LSVPN documentation mentions gateways and satellites, I understand the terminology.  I’m a bit confused on what they’re talking about when it comes to the “portal”.  Would Panorama be considered the portal in LSVPN?  Or is the portal one of the gateways?  Thanks for your help in advance!

GlobalProtect is made up out of 2 elements, the portal and the gateway. You can see both elements in network > globalprotect

the portal serves configuration to all clients (users and lsvpn). there is only one portal per topology

the gateway(s)terminate connections from clients (users and LSVPN) and can be a single gateway, or multiple spread over different locations

both elements run on a firewall
