Merge XML configs in Panorama?

L1 Bithead

Hi -

I was wondering if it's possible to merge a portion of the Panorama config that I'm manipulating offline (say in Notepad++) with the existing Panorama running config?  Specifically, I've got objects I'm defining in a device-group and I'm defining those in an XML file offline.  What I'd like to do is upload/import this XML file and merge it into the existing Panorama running config.  Is this possible?

If not, I imagine I can just export the whole Panorama config.....do my edits/adds offline, and then upload whole config again?  If this is the only option, can someone tell me the procedure for doing this in Panorama?

Thanks much!

- Dave

Hi Dave,

You are correct. Currently there is no way to merge two config in panorama.

You will have to export the configuration, then make the modification and then import it and then load the config.

This can be done by going to Panorama tab---> setup ---->operations

A. How to export the configuration

  1. Save the named panorama configuration snapshot
  2. Give the config name you want it saved by.
  3. Export the named panorama configuration

B. How to Import the configuration

  1. First Import named panorama configuration snapshot
  2. Load named panorama configuration snapshot
  3. After you have loaded the config, changes will not take effect till COMMIT has been done.

If for some reason you dont want the loaded config to take effect then just revert back to running panorama configuration

Hope this helps.

Thank you
