Minemeld Webui not coming up

L0 Member

Hello,

1st post here. Currently running Minemeld on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

I did see this link and tried what was suggested but no dice:

Solved: LIVEcommunity - Re: Minemeld install errors on ubuntu server 16.04 LTS (amd64 bit) - LIVEcom...

Minemeld-auto-update log shows the following errors and the webui is not available even though it shows "running":

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/sbin/minemeld-auto-update", line 787, in <module>
main()
File "/usr/sbin/minemeld-auto-update", line 738, in main
update_minemeld_package()
File "/usr/sbin/minemeld-auto-update", line 687, in update_minemeld_package
cache.update()
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/apt/cache.py", line 505, in update
raise FetchFailedException()
apt.cache.FetchFailedException

Browser shows: It looks like the webpage at https://server/ might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

Trying to determine if it's mindmeld or python.  Seems pythong2.7 is deprecated?

Any help appreciated.

@kenrinc,

Correct, and it has been at this point for years. I'd highly recommend installing the docker image and using that instead. That way you can easily just tear it down and rebuild it whenever you need to.

@kenrinc,

The entire product is deprecated; I wouldn't recommend actively spinning up a MineMeld instance at this point unless you already have business processes built around it. In the event that you have business practices built around MineMeld, I'd highly recommend using the Docker instance instead of manually building it and maintaining a full 16.04 server.

@BPry

Appreciate the help! So Minemeld itself is deprecated?  We only use it for gathering dynamic IPs so It's not clear that we have a business process around it.  We just maintain the server for the network group.  So my guess is that its a better option to upgrade the server, install Docker and install the MM docker image or run it form Azure, AWS etc all....?

Thanks again
