Overriding existing User-ID mappings with Captive Portal to elevate privileges

L1 Bithead

Override the learned credentials through User-ID agent or captive portal for troubleshooting or additional access without involvement of a firewall administrator. (Without clearing from CLI). For example, IT admin is at users place and need to override current internet privileges to access Youtube for troubleshooting an issue.

This can be achieved with accessing the captive portal manually by entering the portal URL in the following URL format. You will be able to enter the new credentials in the captive portal page which will override the existing credentials. Once work is finished you can repeat same to ask user to enter their credentials to revert back the privileges

https://<Captive Portal Redirect IP>:<Port>/php/uid.php?vsys=1&rule=1

Note: Please use incognito or private browsing to avoid cached page being loaded with an authentication success message.
