Panorama upgrade failed

L3 Networker

Hi All,

I'm currently running a virtual panorama 8.1.x , trying to upgrade to 9.0.10.  The upgrade failed with below error.  Panorama is currently in legacy mode.   The system disk is 50GB, there is also an additional 500GB disk.  4vCPU and 16GB of ram.   I believe my issue the system disk is too small.

I'm aware of this link to migrate the system disk to a new disk.

https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/panorama/9-1/panorama-admin/set-up-panorama/set-up-the-panorama-vi...

Is this all that is needed?    Also, in regards to switching to Panorama mode, can I do that even though the logging disk is 500GB, or would I need to add a 2TB disk and migrate the 500 disk to the 2TB disk also?   I'm currently using CDL, so I don't really need much space

Failed to install 9.0.10 with the following errors.
SW version is 9.0.10
Installing [content ] into partition "pancfg"
Nothing to install into /mnt/swm/pancfg/...
Installing [maint ] into partition "maint"
Nothing to install into /mnt/swm/maint/...

Reasons for failure

Cause

  • 9.0.6 and above are larger codes and they need more resources, so the upgrade will fail if there aren't enough resources available.
  • The upgrade to 9.0.6 or above, needs more space in root partition along with more CPU and RAM.
  • If the Panorama has only 8GB RAM and 4CPUs, then upgrade to at least 16GB and 8CPUs. Which can be verified by cli command 'show system info'
> show system info
model: Panorama
vm-mode: VMware ESXi
..
system-mode: legacy
operational-mode: normal
num-cpus: 4
ram-in-gb: 8
