Portal Page for web based email?

L3 Networker

Is it possible to have a portal page or a content page when someone uses gmail, yahoo mail, .... that would make them have to read company policy about not to use them to upload and email company data?

Hi markk96,

What you can do is use response pages for URL category "web-based email" with action set to "continue" and customize the page such that it contains the text of your company policy.  By default, once the end-user clicks OK, they have access to any URL within that category for 15 minutes; this period is configurable.

For more information regarding how you can customize response pages, please refer to the following article:

Customizing Response Pages

Hope this helps,

Along with Doris' recommendations, you could also look into "file blocking policies" and certain types of file attachments through web-based e-mail applications.  If you're concerned about company data, you could start with blocking PDF and Microsoft Office files in web-based e-mail applications.  (Note: most web-based e-mail is run over SSL, so you would need to use SSL Decryption in your Palo Alto Networks firewall in order for the file blocking policy to work).
