We are currently experiencing a significant increase in bandwidth consumption on our network due to users downloading .crx3 files, which are Chrome extension packages. Our Palo Alto Firewall does not natively recognize or allow us to block the .crx3 file type using the File Blocking profile, as this file extension is not currently supported in the predefined or custom file types.
While we have attempted to use custom Data Filtering profiles and regex workarounds, these methods have proven unreliable, prone to false positives, and require ongoing maintenance. The inability to block .crx3 files efficiently is resulting in excessive bandwidth usage, degrading overall network performance, and posing operational challenges for our IT team.
We urgently request the addition of .crx3 as a recognized file type in the File Blocking profile for Palo Alto Firewalls, or any effective recommended solution that will allow us to natively block the download of .crx3 files and prevent unnecessary bandwidth consumption. Please advise on the best course of action, or escalate this feature request for consideration in upcoming content updates. We appreciate your prompt assistance.

Hi @Purushotham ,
The LIVEcommunity is not the right area to submit feature requests (FR).
You should reach out to your local Palo Alto Networks representative and submit the FR. They'll provide you with a FR-ID and you ask the LIVEcommunity users to add their vote to your FR to give it more weight.
Kind regards,
-Kim.
