Second IP-Address

L4 Transporter

Hi everybody,

how is it possible to configure a second ip-address in the same subnet as the first one on the same interface?

i tried to give the interface a second one, but it wasn't committed. also an arp-entry didn't work.

thx in advance

You cannot assign two ip addresses from the same subnet on an interface. If your interface is configured for say 10.0.0.0/8, it will proxy arp for all the addresses that are part of this network. If you need to assign 2 IPs, make sure their subnets do not overlap.

I believe that interface will proxy ARP for all IP addresses in that subnet.

Another option would be to use a loopback interface, and assign the second IP address to that interface.
