TERRIBLE GlobalProtect OSX mac application is SPAM

L0 Member

I don't understand how anybody uses the GlobalProtect VPN on macs without pounding their head into a wall. I only need a VPN when I'm working from home. When I'm in the office and connected via ethernet I don't want to use the VPN because it's obviously slower. However, every time I'm in the office, despite already being on the network, it never stops popping up and asking me to connect and taking my cursor away from whatever I'm working on. I can't close or force quit the process without it coming right back up and it's absolutely ridiculous that there's nothing in the preferences or settings to tell it to stop retrying indefinitely. Unfortunately I have to use this stupid spamware for work, has anyone else figured out a way to shut this thing up???

do you have "always on" set? I have it on my mac, and no issues.

Sounds like it's just misconfigured.

- Is internal host detection enabled? this will, when configured properly, put gl;obalprotect to sleep whenever you are 'internal' (so no popups)

- Is there an internal gateway, or are the external portal and gateway made accessible from the inside? that will also render globalprotect silent as soon as you've opted to not connect

- Are you even allowed (by config) to disable globalprotect? if you try to 'kill' the process it will simply restart, that's how it is supposed to work. if the admin enables the ability to disconnect/disable (or set operational mode to 'on demand' for example) you will be able to be disconnected whenever you need to

It's not the software, it's the config 😉
