Total number of profiles (101) exceeds platform capacity (100)

L1 Bithead

Hello all,

I have a PA-820 and I am experiencing the same issue described here:

https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/general-topics/total-number-of-profiles-xx-exceeds-platform-cap...

My current configuration includes the following:

208 security rules.

35 nat Policy rules

3 QOS Policy rules

24 decryption Policy rules

5 Application Overide rules

2 authentication profile rules

2 Antivirus profiles

3 anti-spyware profiles

3 Vulnerability Protection profiles

64 URL Filtering Profiles

19 File Blocking Profiles

1 wildfire analysis Profile

1 DOS Protection Profile

When I try to add a new url-filtering profile the commit fails.

There are no unused or disabled profiles. so, there isn't anything that I can delete.

show system state filter cfg.general.max* | match profile
cfg.general.max-profile: 0x64

show system state filter cfg.general.max* | match rule
cfg.general.max-auth-policy-rule: 0x1f4
cfg.general.max-di-nat-policy-rule: 2000
cfg.general.max-dip-nat-policy-rule: 400
cfg.general.max-dos-policy-rule: 100
cfg.general.max-nat-policy-rule: 0xbb8
cfg.general.max-oride-policy-rule: 0x64
cfg.general.max-pbf-policy-rule: 100
cfg.general.max-policy-rule: 0x5dc
cfg.general.max-qos-policy-rule: 250
cfg.general.max-sdwan-policy-rule: 100
cfg.general.max-si-nat-policy-rule: 3000
cfg.general.max-ssl-policy-rule: 0x64
cfg.general.max-tci-policy-rule: 100

show system info
uptime: 0 days, 20:38:38
model: PA-820
cloud-mode: non-cloud
sw-version: 9.1.13-h3

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi @mrjcap ,

Unfortunately there is nothing much you can do. This is hard limit for the device.

"Profiles" refer to Security Profiles, where each custom URL category is count as separate security profile.

As you can see from this link PA-820 can support up to 100 security profiles https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/products/product-comparison?chosen=pa-460,pa-3250,pa-820

So you either figure out how to cut down the number of URL profiles or move to bigger device.
