Total number of profiles

L1 Bithead

Hi,

We have the problem with the total number of security profiles.

As you can see in attached screenshot the maximum number of profiles is 100, for now we have 84, but when I tried to add new one I get the capacity error.

Maybe someone had the same problem.

Model - PA-820

This is correct, the maximum number of security profiles for that device is 100 seen here

If you encounter errors in configuring more, you may want to check how much dataplane memory you have (here).

Out of curiosity, for what need/use case requires that many profiles? Might be worthwhile to undergo a best practice assessment to clean up some of that rulebase.

Hi @ntadmins

What PAN-OS version do you use? Sometimes there are capacity changes with new PAN-os releases and the link posted by @LAYER_8 shows the capacity with the newest one.

And did you count the profiles by yourself or did the firewall show you 84 or 85 when you get the capacity error?

We know that the maximum capacity is 100 profiles. But we can not add more that 84. Yesterday we have to delete 1 profile and only after that we were able to add new one.

As you advised we checked dataplane memory.

The software version is 9.1.2

We count it manually and also firewall show 84 profiles.

My suggestion is to double-check how much dataplane memory you have.
