VPN Bandwidth Load Balancing

L3 Networker

Hi Team,

I have three VPN connection for three isp network. We need to load balance the VPN connection when it reaches to a particular threshold for example 75% or 80% then the traffic need to shift to other tunnels.

For example if one tunnels is being used by 5 or 10 users and someone downloads or uploads a content then according to the bandwidth utilization is there any way to load balance the tunnel traffic to other tunnels.

Or is there any other way to load balance the traffic of VPN equally. If so please do let me know regarding this.

Regards..

Hi there,

What route is being advertised via the VPN tunnels, is it the same destination prefix, for example a default route 0/0 ? If so, you can configure ECMP on the VR within which these three VPN tunnels are routed. You will need the change the ECMP Max Path from the default value (2) to 3. It sounds like you will be wanting to use the WRR algorithm for load distribution:

cheers,

Seb.
