GlobalProtect App Config Refresh Interval Expected Behavior

Hello everyone,

I would like to confirm the specifications of "GlobalProtect App Config Refresh Interval".

Is it correct to understand that the above interval is the interval at which the GP Agent goes to the portal to obtain the configuration when it is able to connect to the portal, and that if the GP Agent cannot connect to the portal, this refresh will not be performed?

That is correct! The refresh timer controls how often the GP Client reaches out to the GP Portal to retrieve an updated config. 

If the client cannot reach the portal, it will continue using the last successfully retrieved config until it can successfully reconnect.

Thank you for your response.

I understand that GlobalProtect App Config Refresh Interval takes effect after the GP agent connects to the portal and retrieves the portal config.

On the other hand, if the GP agent has never connected to the portal before, is there any information on the number of retries when attempting the first portal connection?
