URL Filtering Lookup Site Hosting

L1 Bithead

Has anybody noticed if the location of the Palo Alto URL Filtering test site has moved?

We were previously able to use this to lookup classifications of URLs, but recently we have not been able to.

Our geo-blocking policy prevents our traffic going outside of the US; everything that I'm finding regarding this site says it's hosted in the Netherlands.

Does anyone know if this has changed recently?

Hi @Michael-Tatum ,

Are you refering to https://urlfiltering.paloaltonetworks.com/ ?

If I understan you correctly, when checking the domain with https://securitytrails.com it seems it is hosted in Google Cloud and it is moving between US and NL quite often for the last two years:

Looking at this data you can definately see a pattern. I am imagining the main one is in US, but every month there is maintenance which failover the URL the backup region. After few days of testing it is moved back to the main region is US. But now it looks like someone forget to move it back 😄

As workaround you may try to use firewall CLI to get URL verdict - https://knowledgebase.paloaltonetworks.com/KCSArticleDetail?id=kA10g000000ClXrCAK

The down side is this does not give you an option to report and submit category review for given url.
