Can we upgrade Cortex XDR agent version to CE version from console without any restart or downtime?

Yes, you can upgrade a Cortex XDR agent to a Critical Environment (CE) version directly from the management console. While the upgrade process is designed to be non-disruptive, there are specific technical nuances regarding restarts and versioning that you must consider.
Upgrading a standard agent to a CE version (or between CE versions) using the console's upgrade operation is a fully supported and certified procedure.
* Enabling CE Versions: Before you can perform the upgrade, you must enable "Critical Environment Versions" in the tenant settings (Settings → Configurations → Agent Configurations) to make these installers visible and available.
* Version Logic Requirement: An "in-place" upgrade is only possible if the target CE version number is higher than the currently installed version. If you attempt to move from a higher standard version (e.g., 8.8) to a numerically lower CE version (e.g., 8.7 CE), it is considered a downgrade, which is not supported in-place and requires a full uninstall and reinstall.
