Not seeing Cortex MCP Server Download

L1 Bithead

Hi all the Cortex MCP Server download under Settings → Configurations shows on commercial tenants but is missing entirely on our FedRAMP / Federal tenant (not a permissions issue). Is it on the roadmap for Federal environments, and is there an expected timeline for rollout? Thanks!

Hello @P.Sharma903242 ,

Greetings for the day.

Cortex MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server Availability in FedRAMP Environments:

The Cortex MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server, which is part of the Agentic AI (AgentiX) framework, is currently not available in FedRAMP or Federal environments due to regional availability and compliance requirements.

Current Availability and Restrictions:

The absence of the download option under Settings → Configurations in your Federal tenant is expected due to the following reasons:

  • Regional Availability: As of the October 2025 release (Cortex XSIAM 3.3 / Cloud 1.3), the initial Agentic AI capabilities are available only in US and EU commercial regions.
  • Hosting Requirements: These capabilities depend on supported Large Language Model (LLM) hosting infrastructure, which is currently available only in supported commercial regions.
  • Early Access Status: The Cortex MCP Server is currently in an Early Access (Beta) phase and is not generally available across all tenants.
  • Platform Requirements: The MCP Server requires the Unified Platform with Cortex version 5.0 or later.

FedRAMP Compliance Considerations:

The primary reasons the MCP Server is not yet available in FedRAMP environments include:

  • Data Boundary Requirements: FedRAMP requires customer data and supporting infrastructure to remain within certified cloud environments. AI integrations must meet these compliance requirements before they can be introduced into Federal deployments.
  • Compliance Validation: AI-related capabilities are undergoing the necessary compliance and certification processes before they can be made available in FedRAMP environments.

Roadmap

At this time, there is no publicly available timeline for when the Agentic AI framework or Cortex MCP Server will become available in Federal tenants.

For the latest roadmap information and availability updates specific to your environment, we recommend contacting your Palo Alto Networks Account Team or Sales Engineer/Solution consultant.
