New NGFW Certificaions

So if I understand correctly, the new certifications are technically still the PCNSA/PCNSE.  Just broken down into different categories.

If this is the case would any existing materials and courses from say CBT Nuggets still be relevant learning materials for the exam?

Hi @damonaniton ,

The legacy format (PCNSE/PCNSA) and materials are a great starting point for the firewall basics, but they will leave significant gaps in the new, required topics.

To successfully prepare for the new role-based exams (like NGFW Engineer or Network Security Professional), I recommend the following:

  1. Check the Blueprint: Locate the official exam blueprint/datasheet for your target certification (e.g., NGFW Engineer). This is the only way to confirm the exact topics and their weightings.

  2. Use Official Digital Learning: Supplement your third-party course with the free digital learning paths on Palo Alto Networks Learning Center. The official content is guaranteed to cover the new SCM, SASE, and integration topics that the older courses miss.

Hope this helps,
