Hi guys,
Nowadays I am busy with understanding all process of firewall migration to Palo Alto and finding shortest way for migration without facing any error:) therefore i create my lab and try to test all alternative.
I wonder why the PANDP version should be identical ?
In my opinion we import xml file of old backup and it should be include policyies, networking object and etc. Am i wrong ?
Also ı try to delete running-conf.xml file from device state bundle and import it new firewall but somehow the old device config comes with the bundle eve i delete it from bundle file ? Is there any one have experience about that ?
Also i am new with expedition tool. I try to migrate from PA-850 to PA 3220. When we use expedition tool should we consider the PANDB versions of device ?
Thank you for all 🙂

Hi @eserogedey For PA to PA migration, you don't need to use expedition, you can simply export the running config as a xml fle from the old PA and import the file back to the new PA . Expedition supports all version of PAN-OS.

Will that work if migrating from a 3020 to a 460? Is there an article on that? Would love to do this as we have 3020s to replace with 460s and would speed up the migration significantly.

@rkoenig Yes, it should work, if you ran into any issues, please open a TAC case, TAC can help you.

Hi thank you for your response. So it does not depend on Pa software version or antivirus or app version. We can simply export the old config and import it new one?
