Configd Crashing every 50-60 Minutes; Panorama M-500, PAN-OS 8.1.15

Morning All-

I wanted to go ahead and try dropping a post here in hopes that someone else has experienced either an identical or very similar issue.  There is a lot info that could be provided but I'll start with the basics:

-Configured in HA pair with another M-500.

-Both Panorama appliances also configured as log collectors.

-Both appliances are receiving logs at about the same rate.

-Secondary is functioning perfectly fine and has been since it's turn up (current active).

-Appliances are running 8.1.15 code.

Essentially what we see is about every 54 minutes the following critical message is displayed "configd - virtual memory limit exceeded, restarting".  Receiving this message also coincides with this appliance also becoming literally unusable from a GUI perspective.  The CLI also resets but comes back after about 2-3 minutes.  Just want to see if there is some bug that I am unaware of out there.

Thanks!

Hi @adcwallace ,

Release notes show similar behavior over a variety of PAN-OS versions (haven't found a match on 8.1.15 though).  PAN-142031 even is an addressed issue in your PAN-OS version:

From what you're telling it sounds like you might be running into a memory leak.  For bug confirmation I'd recommend generating the techsupport file + eventual corefiles created by the crashes and have them analyzed by TAC.
