exiting because missed too many heartbeats

L0 Member

Hi all,

hoping someone may be able to assist with an issue . these logs are shown only in GUI with high but same logs if see from CLI didn't show up.

We are seeing that every 2 hr  our PA device generates  messages

  • devsrvr: exiting because missed too many heartbeats
  • mgmtsrvr: exiting because missed too many heartbeats

Thanks

Hi @Raja-narayanam ,

Which PAN-OS and hardware are you running ?

Please check the resources and confirm there aren't any processes suffering from a possible memory leak which can often be traced back to these kind of errors.

You can check the resources with the command:

> show system resources follow

Also check if there are available core-files for analysis.

> show system files

In case there are core-files then you can export them for analysis or upload them directly to TAC.

If any of the processes is suffering from a memory leak then you can usually workaround temporarily by restarting the process.  Beware, some of the processes your restart might break your connection to the device temporarily or dataflow.

If there are no such errors to be found then further troubleshooting might be required.  In that case I'd recommend creating the tech support file from the device and submit it to TAC for further analysis.

Hope this helps,

-Kiwi.
