Hi community
In a lot of topics there are discussions and questions about PAN-OS enhancements and missing (not yet implemented) features. So far the PaloAlto Feature Request list isn't available to the public but in a lot of these existing topics feature request IDs (FR ID) are mentionned. Even knowing that PAN-OS is already a feature rich firewall operating system, there is always room for improvement, so I thought it might be helpful for others (and myself) to collect these existing public available FR IDs and summarize them in one topic.

Hi all,
Here's the list of FRs submitted to PA:
NSFR-I-29197 - Share config objects between Panorama Templates:
Description:
I would like to have better support for using Panorama templates and template stacks so you can truly build your configuration like pieces of puzzle, referencing objects from other templates (something like we have for device-groups). For example, as of now, if you have one template where you define all of your interfaces (e.g. Network Baseline) and have another template where you would like to configure things like management profile, IKE gateways, etc. (anything that needs a reference to an interface), it is not possible without configuring "dummy" objects in a relevant template and than overriding things on the template stack level, which is a bit cumbersome.
It would be nice to have a "true" inheritance between the templates so you can combine multiple things from various templates to build the necessary configuration for the firewall.
NSFR-I-29198 - Automatic certificate selection for embedded browser:Description:
Problem is when a user is redirected back to the SP (Palo Alto), since this communication is not controlled via GlobalProtect (instead, the GP's handler is waiting for the control to be passed back by the external browser), a user is prompted for the certificate. This could be suppressed by implementing Edge policy "AutoSelectCertificateForUrls), but there are other issues with this approach and it's just a workaround for what should have been available/implemented within the embedded browser.
Let me clarify further, by looking at the webview2 API reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/microsoft.web.webview2.core?view=webview2-dotnet-1.0.35... - there are:
1. CoreWebView2ClientCertificate
2. CoreWebView2ClientCertificateRequestedEventArgs
These two classes should provide exactly what is needed here. Since the GP config knows about the OID we want to use, instead of prompting user for a certificate (default webview2 behavior), it should lookup for the OID from the client configuration, lookup the certificate store and make automatic selection.
@dsebalj -- For your first one I would look into Strata Cloud Manager and their config "snipits" I think they're called. I understand what you're talking about and can see it's value. I'm just not sure Palo is going to put engineering time against it. While there's always going to be a need for an on-prem manager solution to support FedRamp Palo is really pushing customers to their cloud/SCM solution. Which I think in a year or 2 will probably be a strong alternative to Panorama.

@Brandon_Wertz I see your point Brandon and it's a valid one. On the other hand, I believe Palo should continue to develop/enhance their products as long as they don't reach the EOL/EOS.
