Hello Group,
I am setting up a PA-200 in my SOHO with comcast as my ISP. I have comcast for my isp and am using DHCP to optain my IP address. My question is this. Per the setup guide, if I check DHCP under the IPV4 tab, and check, Automatically create default route pointing to default gateway provided by server. Am I to assume this will create a default VR, per the guide, there is a note that states : If the ISP provides a modem from which the configuration can be obtained automatically, set the Type as DHCP Client.
Note: When "Automatically create default route pointing to default gateway provided by server" is enabled, a default route is installed in the virtual router, 'default'.
If this is the case, It doe Not do this? I am currently on the current version 7.1.4h of the PANOS.
I have no problem creating the VR, but I have no clue what my next hop would be from Comcast.
Thoughts?
thank you
Bryan

Hi Bryan,
I understand that it will install a default route into the virtual router that you assign to the interface. If you commit this and then look at your virtual routers and click on 'More Runtime Stats' you'll be able to see the routing table of the virtual router with the route installed. In your configuration there will be nothing configured there, but you should see the route installed in the routing table.
hope this helps,
Ben

Hi
it will add a default route in the VR your interface is assigned
I created this a while ago: Getting Started: Firewall as a PPPoE or DHCP Client (with video)

I'm not sure why but I get permission denied when I attempt to view your video.

so what's the next hop in the route table or PBF, set the next-hop to none?
