Nintendo Issues with Nat

L0 Member

We have a couple of Nintendos in our district.  I have a NAT Policy setup which is allowing them to get to the internet. Right now it show NAT B.  This is after rebooting them.  I have two separate NAT policies because two nintendos on seperate IP address.  Looking for other ideas get the NAT A.  This is on a PA-3220.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @tnewton ,

Are you currently unable to access the Internet from the Nintendos? What is the issue that you are experiencing?

We are able to access the internet.  We need to be able to be Nat A to access games from other schools, since this is a egaming consoles.  The students can't play other schools due to the NAT restriction.  I have thought about putting both consoles in a DMZ zone but don't know how to setup that on the switch.

@tnewton,

You're going to need to have a static IP in place for these two devices along with bi-directional enabled to actually get Type A on the switch. I would personally run these devices in a DMZ outside of your trust zone and isolated as much as possible; these things have to be pretty exposed to actually function correctly for peer-to-peer games which the switch in particular pretty much requires for anything you're playing rather than relaying through a dedicated server.
