PaloAlto VM Firewall Installation on ESXi Host

L4 Transporter

Hi Team,

We are about to install the VM FW on ESXi host but facing issues while doing it. We have downloaded the base image ova for the version 11.0.1. Is this correct image to install? Or any other image to be used?

PA-VM-ESX-11.0.1.ova

Actually unable to select this image from Datastore while creating the VM.

Somehow when we did that we are able to see the below issue when it is trying to boot.

Regards,

Sanjay S

Hi @Sanjay_Ramaiah ,

Yes that is the correct file. The ova file contains the base installation. After the base installation is complete, you must download and install the latest PAN-OS version from the support portal. This ensures that you have the latest fixes implemented since the base image was created.

Please follow the following deployment guide:

https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/vm-series/11-0/vm-series-deployment/set-up-a-vm-series-firewall-on...

Kind regards,

-Kim.

@kiwi thank you for the response. We can install the latest version even after getting the internet connectivity to the firewall right?
