process to upgrade Terminal server agent in Citrix

L4 Transporter

Dear Community!

We are having issues updating TS agent in our Citrix farm.

Someone who can provide the steps to upgrade TS agent in a Citrix farm?

Best Regards!

Hi @Carracido ,

Have a few questions first so we can narrow this down a bit:

What error are you seeing during the TS Agent upgrade?

Which TS Agent version are you upgrading from and to?

What PAN-OS version is the firewall running?

Is the issue happening on all Citrix servers in the farm or just one?

Depending on the error you can be running into a normal upgrade path issue or something more specific...

In general:

1. Install the TS agent version that matches the PAN-OS version  running on your firewall. For example, if youre running 11.1, install TS agent 11.1. Or if there is not a TS agent version that matches the PAN-OS version, install the latest version that is closest to the version you are running.

2. Verify the Citrix/Windows Server OS is supported in the compatibility matrix before proceeding.

3. Upgrade one Citrix host at a time during a maintenance window rather than the full farm at once.

4. Run the installer as administrator on the Citrix server.

5. Keep the default installation path unless there is a specific reason not to, since Palo Alto notes this helps ensure correct port allocation behavior.

6. If the upgraded TS Agent includes a newer driver, the installer may require a reboot.

7. After the upgrade, verify the PAN Terminal Server Agent service is running and confirm on the firewall that user mappings are still being learned correctly.
