root partition available space reducing

L3 Networker

I have a VM-500 ,PANOS-10.2.8-h3.root available space is decreasing and is now only 3%.

I usually run below commands which sometimes can get me 1 or 2%. I have aggressive cleaning at 90% enabled. Why is creeping to 97% even with aggressive cleaning enabled.I have rebooted the fw(have seen reclaims some space after reboot) but didnt help.

 > delete debug-log mp-log file *.1
> delete debug-log mp-log file *.2
> delete debug-log mp-log file *.3
> delete debug-log mp-log file *.4
> delete debug-log mp-log file *.old

Hi @inderjit21 ,

I had a Panorama VM on 10.2.8-h3 do the same thing.  I opened a TAC case and did the same things you did (aggressive cleaning to 90% and reboot).  It did not appear to help as in your case.  My root partition got to 100% and the GUI would not work.

Powering down the VM fixed my issue.  On power up, the VM was functioning again.  My root partition is now at 83%.  TAC also recommended an upgrade as if this was a known issue (but not in the release notes) for 10.2.8-h3.  I have not done that yet.

I hope this helps!  This issue was a huge pain.

Thanks,

Tom

Hello @inderjit21

you might be hitting a bug described in this KB: Root partition usage keeps exceeding the threshold of aggressive-cleaning.

Kind Regards

Pavel
