url category with wildcard

L0 Member

I have to create a url category which is would allow anything coming from url

x.y.z.com/api-*

every time i try to create that custom url category i get the following error

"Consecutive asterisks (*) in a URL wildcard pattern can severely impact performance and is not supported. Instead, use a single asterisk or multiple carets (^) to indicate consecutive tokens. To learn more about wildcard entries, go to: https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/documentation/url-filtering-wildcards. Mulesoft_Webintegrate_Test-1 -> list is invalid"

not sure how to get around that. Any advise suggestion will be highly appreciated.

thanks

Hi @AJ-Parashar ,

I've moved your question to the general discussions area because the community feedback area is only used for community feedback.

That being said, your use of the asterisk is not supported.

Palo Alto Networks does not support regular expression use in custom URL category or external dynamic list entries. You must know the specific URLs or construct the URL patterns you want to match using wildcards and the following characters:

. / ? & = ; +

You can only use wildcard characters as token placeholders (which isn't the case in your example).
