VM-1000-HV

Hi Community,

my last state, was that the VM-700 is the biggest possible VM-Series firewall.

I just noticed here, that the VM-1000-HV exists and seems to be related to the VM-300 performancewise.

Can anybody tell me, what the -HV means and when to use this v-appliance?

HV = Hypervisor.

The VM-300 and VM-1000-HV are indeed looking very similar performancewise.

thanks for the reply - okay, in comparison VM-1000-HV can do less SSL tunnels.

Does Hypervisor mean, I can install it directly on a bare metal server, or how can I understand that?

I haven't understood, in which use case I need the -HV version

Hi @Chacko42 ,

All VM models can be deployed as guest virtual machines on different platforms.

Check out the following link and change the version to see what exactly is supported (versions 7.1, 8.0, 8.1 and 9.0):

On version 7.1 for example: on VMWare NSX, only the VM-1000-HV is supported.

The product comarison tool shows they are identical, I think that's why he's asking. Hypervisor support isn't listed on the product comparison page.

our SE advised:

"The VM-1000-HV is a legacy product.  Used to be required for NSX integration, that is no longer required in most cases (unless using a legacy version of VM-ware) the VM-300 is the modern equivalent."
