problem to download files from Dropbox

L2 Linker

We have added dropbox.com to OBJECTS>Custom Objects>URL Category. We can login dropbox online. However, can't download files with these errors: .pdf files are supported but something went wrong or There was an error downloading your file. Any help?

@boblin,

I'd take a test endpoint and make sure that it's being logged properly for all traffic not matching a rule, or enable the interzone-default logging, and make sure you're actually allowing all of the traffic. If you're allowing this via URL filtering it's quite possible you'll need to allow access to more domains.

I fixed the problem by creating a policy: http://www.howtonetworking.com/blog/2023/05/10/creta-a-policy-to-allow-accessing-dropbox-on-pa-firew...

As @BPry said, if you are blocking online-storage-and-backup and then trying to allow Dropbox by URL, you will need to add more domains. Dropbox uses a mix of random URL and includes across multiple domains (which makes allowing only certain downloads extremely difficult). We currently filter URLs on the following for Dropbox allows to specific users:

dropbox.com/
*.dropbox.com/
dropboxapi.com/
*.dropboxapi.com/
getdropbox.com/
*.getdropbox.com/
dropboxstatic.com/
*.dropboxstatic.com/
dropboxcaptcha.com/
*.dropboxcaptcha.com/

Yes, you are right. From the Monitor, I can tell many dropbox URLs. I added them to allow list that fixed the problem. Then I thought the problem might come back if Dropbox uses more other URLs. Therefore, I created a policy. Thankyou!
