Cortex XDR Hardware Requirements

L0 Member

Hi All,

Below are the hardware requirements mentioned in the palo alto documentation to install Cortex XDR on a linux machine. Could you please confirm if this RAM (4Gb/8GB) and Hard disk space (10GB) mentioned is needed as the total minimum RAM/hard disk space on the machine ( which other apps/processes can also consume) or is it required dedicatedly for Cortex XDR ?

Hi @S.Khurana

Thanks for writing to LC!

Its the machine minimum requirements required for XDR agent installation, I have observed the agent RAM consumption ranging between 400 - 800 MB depending upon usage and what workload machine handles,
For Disk Quota, the suggestion is to configure the amount of disk space to allot for Cortex XDR agent logs. Specify a value in MB from 100 to 10,000 (default is 5,000) as per our article - ref- Linux step2- https://docs-cortex.paloaltonetworks.com/r/Cortex-XDR/Cortex-XDR-Documentation/Set-up-agent-settings...

If this answered your query, give it a like and mark as solution!

The listed RAM and disk space requirements for Cortex XDR (4GB RAM and 10GB disk space) are typically the minimum dedicated resources needed for optimal performance. It's recommended to allocate these resources exclusively to the sensor and avoid running other resource-intensive applications on the same machine.
