Need XdrAgentCleaner.exe for Cortex XDR agent version 7.9.1 - Anti-Tampering enabled

L0 Member

Hi everyone,

I'm an IT technician and I'm trying to uninstall Cortex XDR agent version 7.9.1.26645 from a Windows 11 workstation.

Unfortunately, I'm facing the following issues:

- The standard uninstall from Programs & Features fails with: "Anti-Tampering is enabled. Please disable Anti-Tampering and retry the operation."

- cytool protect disable does not work (password has been changed from default)

- We no longer have access to the Cortex XDR management console (tenant access lost)

I know the XdrAgentCleaner.exe is the right tool for this situation, and that it's only bundled automatically starting from agent version 8.7.

Would anyone be kind enough to share the XdrAgentCleaner tool compatible with agent version 7.9.x? You can send it to my professional email address: philippe.s@djpservice.com

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Hi @Philippe.s ,

Because the XdrAgentCleaner utility is a restricted administrative tool designed to bypass active endpoint security controls, it cannot be shared or distributed publicly on the community forums.

To obtain the cleaner tool, please open a support case through the Palo Alto Networks Customer Support Portal. Even if you have lost access to the specific XDR management tenant, the support team can verify your corporate domain credentials and securely provide the correct version of the utility to you directly.

If your organization no longer has an active support contract or portal access, you will need to reach out to a local Palo Alto Networks partner or your original account representative to see if they can assist you with an administrative exception ticket. Otherwise, the standard fallback for a completely orphaned endpoint is to re-image the workstation.
