mgmtsrvr zombie process

L3 Networker

Dear Team,

I'm using 9.1.12-h3 PAN-OS.

When entering the 'show system resources' command, one zombie process is identified as below.

CHOEKyungJun_0-1668652670473.png

In detail, it is confirmed that the 'mgmtsrvr' process is in a zombie state.

I would like to know what caused the process to be judged as a zombie.

I am aware of 'PAN-175211' fixed in version 9.1.13. When checking through previous cases, i know that the zombie process was caused by a bug in a specific process.

I think it's a bug, but if there are other possible causes, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Kyungjun,

Hi @CHOE-KyungJun ,

In most cases zombie processes are related to memory leaks and/or unresponsive processes.

You could try checking the mp-logs for fail entries if you can find it but my recommendation would be to update your PAN-OS version because 9.1.12-h3 dates from previous calendar year (12/20/2021).

The recommended version on the PAN-OS 9.1 train is 9.1.14-h4 at the moment of this writing.

Kind regards,

-Kiwi.
