Global Protect Blank Screen on Windows 11

L0 Member

Hello, I am having an issue where users go to lunch and the screen times out or the laptop goes to sleep, and they come back to a blank Global Protect (as seen below). The only way to fix this is to restart the laptop or go into task manager and end the global protect task and re-open the application. The issue is very intermittent and does not happen with everyone (I have not been able to reproduce myself). I just notice that Global Protect will disconnect me after lunch and I have to hit connect and its fine. I have tried running probably 4 or 5 different versions of Global Protect now (ranging from 6.2.8 to 6.3.3) and the issue happens with each one. We are currently running Windows 11 24H2/25H2 with Global Protect version 6.2.8-317.

At first, we were told it was a bug in the version so, we changed versions, but the issue continued. Next, we thought it was because Windows was turning off the Wi-Fi adapter to save power but, we unchecked that and the issue continued. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this and found a fix for it.

Thank you in advance!

Hi @J.Madeiro ,

I haven't run into this issue before but I am curious. When the blank UI appears, can you check Task Manager and see whether PanGPA.exe is running normally or is “Not responding”? If you try killing PanGPA without rebooting, does it come back up?

Hi Jay,

Hmm not that I have seen but, I generally just tell the end users to go into task manager themselves. I will ask them to check the next time it happens and see if it shows not responding. Yes, just ending the Pan service brings it back up without rebooting. To me, it seems like Microsoft is interrupting the service somehow and causing the app to not restore properly until the whole application is restarted. I just haven't figure out how or why.

Thank you!
Justin
