When using Maltego it's likely you'll be using not just our AutoFocus transforms, but transforms from a number of other providers too - especially as one of the main benefits of the tool is the ability to query multiple data sources from a single place!
Unfortunately, not all providers use the same entity types or default value types to represent entities. This is the case for example, for the Hash entity type. We use the SHA256 as a default - learn how to jump from an MD5 to a SHA256 in Maltego in the video below, as well as how we illustrate what happens when a sample is not present in AutoFocus in the short video below:
