ARP Question

L2 Linker

When logged in via CLI on the PAN 500 and I view the ARP table, it says maximum of 500 entries.  Does this mean that the PAN will only support 500 unique connections at a time?

I'm still trying to track down a problem I've been having with some machines unable to actually get out to the internet for a few minutes at a time and then they suddenly work.  If there is a 500 connection limit then I think I have found my problem.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Kevin,

Yes, if there are more than 500 devices on the same subnet as the PA-500, then this will be a problem.  More devices can be supported with a Layer 3 hop between them and the PA-500.  The PA-500 can handle up to 64,000 sessions.

Cheers,

Kelly

Thanks Kelly.

So, If I were to put my Sonicwall back in as a Level 3 device and then do the PAN in vwire mode I should be set?

Yep, that should do the trick!

Hi,

Is it possible to change the default ARP timeout?

Regards,

Radek

No, you can't change the ARP default timeout value.
