data_plane: restarts exhausted, rebooting system.

Today we suddenly got this error message (data_plane: restarts exhausted, rebooting system) on PA-4050. The PAN OS is 3.1.5.This system message (The dataplane is restarting) was logged few times before the reboot. What is the reason for this?

Hi,

It would be best if you open a case with Support. We'd have to look at the Tech Support file to determine root cause.

I do have the same issue with PA-220 (8.1.8-hx), i.e data plane was restarted as it exhausted the maximum count, and it lead to rebooting the system. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

@gpandit similar to the previous response, please open a Support case as there will need to be deeper investigation of the Tech Support File to know what happened...

We also noticed the same exact issue on PA-220s running on 9.1.3-h1. It was found to be memory leak issue by TAC and suggestions to upgrade to 9.1.5.
