NAT inside VPN Tunnel

L3 Networker

I have to create a VPN Tunnel to an untrusted network (business partner).

I found out I will have to advertise all of our subnets to the parner, server nets, user nets, all of them...

I will make some firewall rules to restrict traffic but also ...

Is there a way I can setup the VPN but then NAT INSIDE the VPN so the remote side does not have to see our entire internal network address ranges, just the NAT IPs?

Hello,

Yes, you should be able to configure a source nat for all traffic from Trust zone to the VPN zone (i.e. zone where the tunnel terminates), with destination address pointing to your Remote LAN's subnet. This will translate all traffic traversing the tunnel to the remote peer. Make sure the remote end has a route for the "NAT'ed IP's" through the tunnel.

Although not entirely related, you can refer to this document on Configuring IPsec with overlapping networks if needed.

Thanks,

Aditi

ok thanks,

so, it sounds like,

I do not need to bind any IP address/range to our interface (or tunnel interface), just the NAT rules will do ....
