PDF report generate and date is not in order

L2 Linker

hi all, I have an issue where I generated and exported my custom report in PDF and the timestamp is not in order.

And the "sort-by" option is limited, refer to the attached.

Is there a way to view my report in the correct order based on the timestamp?

My Palo alto software version is 10.1.8

Hi @Kevin_Ncs @buyopik ,

You can add the column "Generate Time" to your report.

You can sort on that column when you do a "Run Now".

Alternatively you can export as CSV and sort that column.

Does anyone encounter a similar issue? I am still unable to solve it.

I tried export both CSV and PDF but the date is still not in order.

"Sort by" option do not have the option to choose date/timestamp. Refer to the attached.

I realize that this is old-ish, but I keep coming across this post when searching around for solutions to reporting issues. Same problem, amongst a slew of others - and now running 11.1.10-h1. This specific solution implies that I would have to do this manually for every report generated. Why would anyone want to do that? The feature-set that everyone was sold on, especially for Panorama, includes an emphasis on reporting that seems like it's been broken for some time. I'm cringing pretty hard having to ask this, but when is simple 'sort by generate time' going to be a "feature?"

Hello @DavidLeonard,

Thank you for resurrecting this post. Requiring users to manually run and sort reports via a workaround is indeed not scalable.

The reason the "Sort by" option is often missing or limited on a saved, pre-generated report is that the report is essentially a static output stored in the database.  The current workaround requires the user to utilize the "Run Now" feature (as previously suggested) or to export the data to CSV in order to apply real-time sorting to certain columns, including the vital "Generate Time."

While I cannot immediately offer a direct fix, I strongly encourage you to evaluate the reporting capabilities within the newer platforms.  Newer tools built into SCM (formerly AIOps) offer more modern dashboarding and data presentation capabilities that often include native sorting functionality and better long-term reporting analysis than the classic Panorama reports.

Alternatively you can request for the inclusion of features like persistent column sorting through official channels.  Please have your Sales Engineer (SE) or Partner submit a formal Feature Request (FR) to Product Management, referencing the need for default persistent sorting by column (including Generate Time) within saved reports on Panorama/PAN-OS.

Kind regards,

-Kim.
