Hi,
I am a private user, and wanted to purchase the PA -220 device. but I wanted to know where should I go to purchase the basic threat protection license for this device? am based in Italy and probabaly would be easier if there is some online store available but not easy to find.
can someone please explain the process?

Hi @antoniocerasuolo ,
Please read Palo Alto Networks' secondary market policy for any requirements to meet:

For local PAN partners you can search here:
Kind regards,

hi Kim,
Thanks this is verìy inbteresting info!
the PA 220 device i wanted to purchase seems to be out of support accoring to the Hardware end of life dates.
am guessing that therefore no license can be issued for this device.
It would have been much easier if there was an online store where the HW & licenses could be purchased!
ciao,
Antonio

Hi @antoniocerasuolo ,
The PA-220 it's an End-of-Sales model and the second market policy it saying that: "Devices that are currently end-of-sale cannot be re-certified. For our current end-of-life policy and listing of products, please see our End-of-Life Announcements."

Cosmin,
I'm looking to replace my Fortigate SOHO device and searching low end SOHO device to substitute.
from the point of view of information /devices/specs Kudos to PAN!
but then when it comes down to finding the actual device at an affoirdable price and a license at an affordable price for a SOHO user this is the challenge...
it seems that I would need to contact resellers and get quotes.. etc.. etc.. this takes days/weeks
anyhow ,thanks will decide what to do whether to continue to move forward with PAN or for ease of life try a different provider
ciao,
Antonio

Hello,
Does the company you work for use Palo Alto firewalls? If yes you can purchase a PA-445 lab unit. It'll be at a reduced price but be fully licensed.

a second point that I don't understand is why I need a professional company email?
if i am able to purchase the device, Palo Alto will have to override this policy, so i can register .. etc.. etc...

Hello @antoniocerasuolo
Please be aware that PA-410 has some limitations on local logging.
PAN-175545 - https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/pan-os/10-1/pan-os-release-notes/limitations/limitations-in-pan-os...
Another discussion:
PA-410 is a great box if you are planning on logging to Panorama or Strata Logging Service.

Palo has, at his time, not tapped the private market so all sales are set up to be b2b. this means you cant go onto a website and just order a device for your home (which is a pitty) and also 'explains' why you need a professional email address to register
That said. if your company uses Palo Alto, their reseller should be able to set you up with a small lab device so you can play with that at home. if you don't have any contacts, you could look for a (small) reseller in your area that can sell you a device and register it under their account

yes ,
but if I buy a domain for example pinkopallo.com and create an email account info@pinkopallo.com seems that it will pass...??
I mean is Palo alto asking for the cerrification of the company registered with the goernment commerce ? if no then anyone can register a "techy" domain and get an account.. of course this is a secondary step first is to actually purchase the device.

any 'private' (or gov't, ... ) domain will work, only public email services like gmail etc are blocked from creating accounts
