Global Protect before logon shows "Connecting" just after -registerplap with no portal set

L0 Member

Hi, i have a problem with GP on newly installed Windows 11 Pro with GP 6.3.3-633. I am trying to setup GP before logon. I did that PANGPS.exe -registerplap and just after reboot Network Logon icon shows up but when I click it it shows GP icon and "Connecting" all the time, while I did not set any portal yet. Reboot is not helping. It's not showing that bar where I can input portal address. How can I fix it?

Hi @Buko84 ,

The GlobalProtect client is designed to automatically try to connect to a pre-defined portal when PLAP is enabled, but since none is set, it gets stuck. The user interface for entering the portal address is not shown at this stage because the PLAP is already running in a dedicated pre-logon context.

You can fix this by pre-configuring the portal address in the Windows Registry.

If I'm not mistaken it's explained in this DOC:

https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/globalprotect/10-1/globalprotect-admin/globalprotect-apps/deploy-a...

Hope this helps,

Kim.
