New Palo Alto Networks Certifications: PCCSE and PCSAE

With the cybersecurity industry evolving rapidly, adapting to new technologies and being proactive with security developments has become more important than ever. Palo Alto Networks, a global cybersecurity leader, produces technologies at the forefront of securing the cloud and the future. We are excited to announce our latest certifications, Palo Alto Networks Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE) and Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Automation Engineer (PCSAE). Earn one of these industry recognized certifications to augment your cybersecurity credentials in these cutting edge spaces.

Palo Alto Networks Prisma Cloud platform offers the industry’s broadest security and compliance coverage for applications, data, and the entire cloud native technology stack. The PCCSE certification validates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to onboard, deploy, and administer all aspects of Prisma Cloud. The PCCSE certified individual demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Palo Alto Networks Prisma Cloud technology and resources.

Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSOAR orchestrates actions across the entire security product stack for faster and more scalable incident response. The PCSAE certification validates the knowledge and skills required to develop, analyze, and administer our Cortex XSOAR security orchestration, automation, and response platform with native threat intelligence management. The PCSAE certified individual demonstrates understanding of the utility of out-of-the-box and custom playbooks and integrations while identifying customer processes automated and customized through XSOAR.

The PCCSE Blueprint and PCSAE Blueprint are available to showcase the high level domain, tasks, and subtasks covered in the examinations.

Check out the Palo Alto Networks Education Services site for more information on our certification release dates, additional exam preparation material, and information about how you can be selected to take the beta version of these two new certifications.

PCCET

The Palo Alto Networks Education Services team is excited to announce the new and improved foundational certification, the Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Entry-level Technician (PCCET). This certification is designed for students, technical professionals, and non-technical professionals interested in validating comprehensive knowledge on current cybersecurity tenets. The PCCET will replace the Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (PCCSA). The PCCSA will be delivered until January 31, 2021. The PCCET will include next-level upgrades to encompass knowledge of the various cutting-edge advancements across all Palo Alto Networks technologies. PCCET registration opens January 1, 2021 and is available January 31, 2021.

PCCSA certified individuals will have their credentialing status grandfathered into the upgraded PCCET certification framework. When their current PCCSA certification expires, individuals will need to take and pass the new exam to recertify as a PCCET or take a higher level certification exam.

As we grow our portfolio, it’s essential that our foundational certification reflect changes in technology. The renamed PCCET is a knowledge-based certification on the fundamentals of cybersecurity that will stand as the entry point in accessing the entire Palo Alto Networks credentialing portfolio. While the previous version was focused solely on Strata (Firewall), this upgraded certification will assess the individual’s knowledge of firewalls as well as the cloud and automation functionalities of Prisma and Cortex. Additionally, as the cybersecurity landscape gets more complex, Cybersecurity Academy (one of the pillars of Palo Alto Networks Education Services) has created 4 new courses (from the original 3-course series) to align with the PCCET certification, and has also the NIST/NICE (National Institute of Standards and Technology/National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education) workforce framework.

To start preparing for the exam today individuals can:

The PCCET will be launching on January 31, 2021. Individuals will be able to register to take the exam on January 1, 2021. New educational resources will be made available in November with more information on how to prepare for the updated exam.

We recognize the critical importance of updating our certifications for candidates and employers to reflect the latest technologies. Upgrading our foundational certification allows us to keep up with the needs of the changing market.
