Can I use HA function on palo alto vm-series with out any license?

L1 Bithead

Dear all:

My company wants to try update their palo alto NGFW. Before they do it, they need me try it on a test device that they can know the operate procedure and check there is no risk , so I download the software of palo alto FW, and I install it into vmvare. For keep the network structure similar to the business network, I need to config HA function on vm-series, so I want to know can I just config the HA function between two vm-series with out any license? My English is so bad, I'm sorry for that and I hope you can understand what I mean. Thanks!

Best Wishes.

Xin

Hi @459768405 ,

There is no specific license to enable HA. That said, both firewalls should be running the same set of licenses (example: both Firewalls should be running the same Threat Prevention, WildFire, etcetera .. licenses). You can check out the following link which explains HA pre-requisites:

https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/pan-os/11-1/pan-os-admin/high-availability/set-up-activepassive-ha...

Hope this helps,

-Kim.
