Is a spare unit ( FW) sold to distributor under warranty ?

L0 Member
Any idea is a spare unit bought by the distributor to support customers under warranty ?
If not, can the distributor exchange
1.) for any faulty spare unit
2.) upgrade to a new model
Thanks.

Palo Alto Networks will maintain the same warranty entitlements for all of their products, regardless of partner/vendor.

1) The spare unit is owned by the distributor.  If they would like to transfer their ownership (in case of RMA), they are inclined to do so (if I understand the question you are asking)

2) Once a device has been purchased, it is up to the discretion of PANW sales if there is any value in a traded in FW)

What other questions may we answer?

Dear S.Cantwell,

We (as a distributor) have a case where one of our Partners want to purchase SPARE units to cover their multiple client RMA cases (not just one, since OSS devices are registered to one particular customer and stays at their premises, this is not an option ).

This partner doesn't have international ASC certificate and this requirement is stated on KB: "Spare devices are purchased only by INTL Authorized ASC Partners" (Source: https://knowledgebase.paloaltonetworks.com/KCSArticleDetail?id=kA10g000000PO9eCAG&lang=en_US%E2%80%A...).

The question is:

  • Is it possible for partner without ASC status to purchase SPARE devices and use it to cover multiple clients RMA cases ? If so what is procedure for purchasing and replacement.
  • If not and only distributors with ASC status can purchase them and we replace the RMA faulty unit, can we then sell this SPARE unit and move ownership to partner, or customer ? Any guide on these procedures would be very helpfull.

Thanks in advance!
